Repair of torn leather vehicle seat

Your torn leather car seat is repairable, here are the steps to follow.

First of all, you have to deal with the tear in the seams. If you do not have the seaming skills to put the pieces back together or if they are too far apart or dry, you should start by cleaning the edges of the wounds by cutting off damaged or too irregular parts. The idea is to obtain a clean hole, with smooth edges. In order for the seam not to work any harder, it is essential to stop it with a few solid stitches at the ends.

With the Sofolk tear kit, you can then place a piece of leather in the cavities, under the leather, by making it protrude far inside your seat to be able to stick it on the reverse (rough side against rough side) using our repair paste. The holes now have a bottom and you can apply leather repair paste again to fill the cavities.

After drying, sand lightly to obtain a smooth surface ready for recolouring (240 grain sandpaper). This is done in 2 or 3 coats at one hour intervals using our leather car seat renovation kit.

Then come the application of the varnish the next day, and 3 weeks later, a second coat of varnish, as well as a treatment with edible oil, included in the kit, which guarantees the flexibility and solidity of your leathers over time.
